How’s David Beckham’s Miami MLS Stadium Coming Along? (SPOILER: It’s Not)
Remember when David Beckham and Major League Soccer announced a new Miami franchise? Well, they still haven’t gotten a new stadium yet. Which is noteworthy when you remember the local vote to negotiate a deal with Mr. Posh Spice was on December 17, 2013. Yes, it’s been over a year, and even the celebrity power of Becks can’t get a new house built in downtown Miami. One of the major roadblocks has been the guilt over giving well-known shitty owner Jeffrey Loria an expensive new ballpark. Another has been MLS’ hardline stance that a new downtown soccer-specific stadium must be built, which doesn’t work well when the league allows Man City-backed NYCFC to play in co-owner’s Yankee Stadium.
