Shortly after the debut of its first made-for-television season, new HBO show High Maintenance has already received an order for a second season. The show, which started as a web series back in 2012, was picked up by HBO earlier this year while in the midst of its fifth season. HBO’s Casey Bloys called for a six-episode first season to test the waters, and the show has apparently passed that test after only two weeks.

High Maintenance is an anthology series that follows The Guy (Ben Sinclair), a NYC weed deliveryman who encounters some of the most interesting characters in the city while completing his deliveries. Each episode focuses on a new customer and a new storyline, with the show receiving high praise for how clever and culturally relevant it is. The series was created by Katja Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair, who also wrote and directed every episode of the first HBO season.

“The response to the new episodes exceeded all of our expectations,” said Bloys. “Ben and Katja are brilliant, unconventional storytellers and we’re excited to see what they dream up for us in our second season.”

It’s nice to see a show that started on Vimeo and lasted for years online finally get some recognition on a bigger platform. Now is a great time to check the show out. In addition to the newly-created episodes for HBO, fans can also watch all 19 of the original webisodes through HBO as well.
