Help Frank, Moby, and Shrekka Build a Bookstore
I have amazing memories of visiting Changing Hands Bookstore at their original location on Mill Avenue in Tempe, from as early as six years old. My mother would take me there on a regular basis and she would let me wander by myself through the old shelves searching books, getting lost in the three story building, flipping through the old baskets of tarot cards, asking the longhaired hippies for help finding something that I wasn’t quite sure the name of… it was one of my favorite places in the world.
Changing Hands has been working on building a second location in the Central Phoenix area, with a beautiful vision of turning an old restaurant space into a gorgeous bookstore, coffee shop, and yes, a bar. However the banks don’t seem to want to support this, they don’t seem to think that building a bookstore and community space is a profitable endeavor. I can’t tell you how much we need this in Central Phoenix. Every bookstore in my neighborhood has closed – every.single.one. It’s heart breaking.
Please donate if you can, they’ll send you a ton of cool swag.
Or at least enjoy the Frank ‘N Moby video.
