FDA Warns People That Black Licorice Is Terrible For You

The FDA is warned people not to binge eat black licorice this past Halloween because it contains a sweetening compound called glycyrrhizin, which can cause a drop in potassium levels. With low levels, some people might experience high blood pressure, swelling and even congestive heart failure, the FDA says. Any demented person who would overdose on black licorice would most likely be a menace to society anyway.
