Facebooks Photo Tagging Software Facing Lawsuit

facebookA judge had determined that users in Illinois can sue Facebook over facial recognition software. Turns out Facebook impedes on the Illinois Biometrics Information Privacy Act with the technology it uses to suggest people who may be in your photos. Facebook’s software works by measuring the distance between a person’s eyes, nose, and ears to create a “template” and biometric data has been defined as retina scans, fingerprints, voice prints, and scans of “hand or face geometry.”

You can opt out of Facebooks’ facial recognition features but those over 30 have reported that its much easier to hire lawyers and spend years in court than navigating Facebook’s privacy options.
