Daily Fantasy Now Gambling, Illegal In New York

giftkingsState Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced in a statement that daily fantasy sites “are engaged in illegal gambling under New York law, causing the same kinds of social and economic harms as other forms of illegal gambling,” and as a result has ordered both major websites to stop offering their services to New Yorkers, by far their largest market. He later claimed that “DraftKings and FanDuel are the leaders of a massive, multi-billion-dollar scheme intended to evade the law and fleece sports fans across the country,” and then proclaimed “not on my watch.”

New York becomes the sixth state to ban daily fantasy. That includes Nevada, which ruled a gambling license would be required to operate in their state. The lesson we’ve all learned from this industry downfall is this: don’t flood the market with thousands of annoying commercials.
