The Ultimate Sam Kinison Collection Coming Soon Via Comedy Dynamics

Sam Kinison Box Set
Comedy Dynamics is once again compiling a collection of one of the most important voices in comedic history. The Sam Kinison Comedy Collection, will feature Kinison’s comedy specials and the documentary made by Bill Kinison entitled Brother Sam, (based on the book of the same name).
Kinison’s phrenetic storytelling style hit the stand up scene like a ton of bricks. He performed as he lived, holding nothing back. His passion and energy left few people apathetic, he was a love him or hate him sort of performer. His video was banned from MTV and his recordings came with warning stickers. Will the re-release come with warnings, twenty something years later? If another company was releasing it, possibly, but Comedy Dynamics is the same company that brought us the Bill Hicks mega anthology. “I don’t like disclaimers,” says company president Brian Volk-Weiss, scoffing at the notion of stickering the box set. “Comedy is a very raw, basic expression of freedom. I’m very loathe to put a disclaimer on it.”
Kinison, who was the son of a preacherman, inherited the ability to storytell for hours on end. He blew the roof of the notion that comics should re-work bits over and over again to perfections. His material was likely to only hit the stage two or three times before he moved on to something else that was pissing him off. His off the cuff style, high energy and fearless desire to take on taboo subjects conjured an audience adrenaline that was more befitting a rock show, than a comedy club.
The box set will be released on April 29th, but you will be able to purchase the material digitally on all streaming and download platforms in February. A Kinison movie starring Josh Gad is also in the works.
