Earlier this week comedian Eddie Griffin did something very few celebrities are doing these days  — he defended Bill Cosby.  In an interview with DJ Vlad for VladTV, Griffin said that the accusations against Bill Cosby, who he referred to as Dr. Cosby,  are part of a systematic attempt to bring down black entertainers.

“There is a systematic effort to destroy every Black male entertainer’s image,” Eddie told Vladimir Lyubovny who goes by the name DJ Vlad. “They want all of us to have an asterisk by our name.”  He pointed to other instances of black celebrities with tarnished reputations.  “Kobe, raped a white woman in Colorado,” he said.  “Dr. Cosby, raped 37 bitches and still counting. Nobody leaves this business clean.  Michael Jackson fucked little white children.  Michael Jordan gambled…. Understand, you’re not going to die clean.”

Griffin praised Cosby for all the good he has done for the black community including “single handedly sent a bunch of brothas and sistas to college,” and said that Cosby has even bought colleges for colleges, “and then some pussy is supposed to tear that down?”  Griffin expressed concerns about the credibility of Cosby’s accusers, asking why they would go to the room of a known married man in the first place, and then questioned why they would wait 30 years to report a crime.

DJ Vlad, also known as  Vladimir Lyubovny, is a disc-jockey and CEO of VladTV.com, which is self-described as the world’s leading source of celebrity interviews and urban news.  It’s also been called the TMZ of Hip Hop.

Although there aren’t many comedians publicly defending Cosby, Eddie isn’t completely alone.  Back in September comedian Damon Wayans took some heat for comments he made defensive of Cosby in an interview with New York City’s Power 105 morning show. Wayans had expressed similar doubts about the credibility of the accusers, calling some of them ‘unrapeable’ and said he didn’t think women were that naive.
