The Comedian Who Changed My Life is a new series where comics talk about, you guessed it, the comedian who changed their life. This week, Dan Soder talks about Dave Chappelle.

This is Dan Soder, and the comedian who changed my life definitely had to be Dave Chappelle. He’s the first comedian I ever saw live at the Comedy Works in Denver. And he was a guy who— as a young kid with a sense of humor, you’re always trying to find the comic that you were like, ‘I think that way too!’ and Dave Chappelle was definitely the guy, where I was like, “oh this guy’s a genius, and I want to talk on stage and act like he does.” I definitely wouldn’t be doing comedy unless I saw him. When I saw Chappelle I was like, ok I want to do what he does. And, no one can, because he’s one of a kind. So, my comedy career is my sad attempt at me trying to be like Dave Chappell.
