Colonial Themed Restaurant In Trouble For Being…Colonial Themed
A restaurant that just opened up in Portland is getting some heat from people feeling offended by it embracing the Colonial period in a historically black neighborhood.
The restaurant was opened by Sally Krantz who has spent years working in restaurants in Hong Kong and France. The idea for the restaurant was to have a menu that had “globally inspired dishes from the height of the British Empire”. The restaurant is named Saffron Colonial and the idea of embracing the colonial period is pissing some people off. There have been protestors and people leaving tributes to fallen ancestors, a PR person for the restaurant called a protestor a cunt in a deleted tweet. This restaurant idea seemed perfectly fine in Krantz’ mind after her first idea for a Civil War themed restaurant felt like a little too much.
