Cameron Crowe Returning To Band Bus
Cameron Crowe is returning to his roots as a fly on the wall rock & roll journalist with “Roadies”, a new series he’s developing as a pilot for Showtime. The show follows the lives of those working behind the band on a tour, produced by JJ Abrams and hilarious comic Winnie Holzman. Luke Wilson, Imogen Poots, and Oscar Winner Keisha Castle-Hughes star. No mention of a Penny Lane muse so far.
Luke Wilson will play Bill the tour manager. He’s been sober for five years and on the road for too long. Imogen Poots (The Look of Love, That Awkward Moment, Jane Eyre) is the electrical tech Kellie Ann and Keisha Castle-Hughes perhaps best known as the youngest female ever nominated for an Academy Award for “Whale Rider” is the band’s outspoken sound mixer, Donna. This is the rare exception where the band is the side characters.
Showtime hasn’t announced when production will begin on “Roadies”.
