Bob Costas says that after seeing Will Smith’s movie Concussion, he wrote a piece to be a part of his halftime segment during the 2018 Super Bowl discussing how football “destroys peoples brains” but NBC has a major partnership with the NFL and depends on Thursday Night Football for ratings so they scrapped it to save the relationship. Costas was taken off the Super Bowl that year, airing on NBC. And now we know why the NFL has refused to give Will Smith the halftime show these past few years.
