Bill Hicks, the influential comedian whose cutting wit and acute social observational brand of humor influenced everyone from Denis Leary, Marc Maron, Dave Attell and Patton Oswalt through Lewis Black and Russell Brand, will be the subject of a career spanning retrospective covering all of his audio and video output.

Starting on April 28th, Comedy Dynamics – working with full cooperation with the Hicks estate will reissue all of Hicks’ comedy albums to digital and VOD retailers. To coincide with its release of the albums, SiriusXM will play his catalog on its Raw Dog channel. A DVD box set of his video work will be released in August and a previously unreleased album of Hicks audio will be available in October.

For Comedy Dynamics President of Production Brian Volk-Weiss, landing the Hicks catalog is like acquiring a comedic Holy Grail. “After many months of hard work and dedication, we couldn’t be more humbled to assume control of the Bill Hicks catalog, “Volk-Weiss said in a statement. “Bill Hicks is one of the most important stand-up comedians to have walked this planet. The duty to expose him to a new generation of comedy fans is a true honor, we’ll do him proud.”

In the post-Pryor era, no comedian had a bigger impact than Bill Hicks. For him, nothing was off the table: He tackled everything from abortion, racism, and consumerism, told handicapped jokes on TV and called once called Hitler ‘an underachiever’. Bill Hicks is still the only comic to have his entire set removed from Late Show With David Letterman out of fear that it would labeled offensive. With Hicks’ mother Mary on as an in-studio guest, Letterman aired the entire segment in 2009 and publicly took responsibility for its initial removal.

Bill Hicks was only 32 when he passed away from cancer in 1994. But thanks to this new re-issue campaign, comedy fans new and long time can hear his genius once again.
