Bama Made $46.5M In Profit Off Its Amateur Football Team

asWith the University of Alabama coming off another Crimson Tide national title, the Tuscaloosa News has obtained financial records filed by the school with the NCAA. In 2015, the football team brought in over $95M in revenue: that includes $37M in ticket sales, $20M in media rights fees, and another $20M in “private contributions.” But they still recorded $48M in expenses: that includes $18M in coaches salaries (almost $8M of that Nick Saban’s). And profits were actually down $7M from last season, thanks in part to a $3M raise in said salaries and recruiting costs rising to $1.3M.
