Who would have thought Charlie Rose would be curious about Kurt Metzger? The media vortex surrounding Kurt’s Facebook comments is showing no signs of slowing down.  Comedy fans know Kurt as a controversial, oftentimes blunt, but extremely talented and funny comedy writer and performer.  To others he’s become a hot topic only 24 hours after most media outlets were  referring to him as “Amy Schumer Writer” in headlines.

The latest news comes from the set of Charlie Rose, who sat down with Amy Schumer presumably to talk about her new book release. The episode will air on Friday August 19th, at 8:30pm, but rather than release a clip talking about Schumer’s new book, the show shared four minutes of conversation about the hot topic of the week,  Kurt Metzger and his Facebook posts. Schumer says she’d like to refocus the debate to talk about sexual assault victims, but did take some time to share her feelings on her friend and writer. “I’ve asked him, just, “Can you just stop because it comes back to me?” Because he writes for the show, it’s a bigger story because of our connection, and so whatever tangent he’s gone off on I have not agreed with, and it’s been really upsetting to me seeing someone that I care about hurt themselves like this,” she said.

Schumer also further clarified her earlier Twitter comments about Kurt not working for her and not being a writer on her show. “Right now, there’s no plans for the TV show to come back anytime in the near future. So nobody’s on my staff. There are no writers.”

Watch the full clip below, and tune in to Charlie Rose on Friday.
