A Crazy Man Owns The Deed To The Padres’ Park, And They Can’t Get It Back

padresApparently, you can just waltz into a records office in San Diego, fill out a deed, and as long as all the facts are straight, be listed as the owner of any piece of property. Which is what one man did with Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres. For the past two years, his name has been on the deed for the property.

All the city or the Padres have to do is prove in court that no transaction took place, and his claim is null and void. Problem? He’s had a history of mental illness and a psychiatrist says he’s unfit to stand trial. So a crazy man exploited a loophole to claim the land a MLB stadium sits on, and he’s too crazy for them to get it back.

Good system. Damn good system.
