Check Sneak Peaks at Shane Torres’ Upcoming Debut Album ‘Established 1981’

Comedian Shane Torres has been busy lately. The Last Comic Standing alum and host of the Help Wanted podcast has teamed up with Comedy Central for two different projects in the past few months: He shot a half-hour Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents… episode in New Orleans a few months back, and he recorded his debut album, Established 1981, under the network’s Comedy Central Records label. That album is due out on Friday, September 8th.

To promote the new album, Torres and Comedy Central Records released a clip a few weeks back in which Torres comes to the defense of celebrity food personality/Mayor of Flavortown Guy Fieri. Torres, as it turns out, doesn’t quite understand the hatred that Fieri receives from the internet at large and, after hearing Torres’ arguments in favor of the cheesy restaurateur, I’m inclined to agree. You may have seen the clip floating around, as it was picked up by Vulture, Paste Magazine and the like shortly after being released, but if you haven’t then you can check it out below.

A few days ago, CCR released another clip from the album, this one featuring Torres telling a story from his past when he worked as a waiter, one of many jobs he’s bounced around between, due in part to his looking like “a Native American Meatloaf impersonator,” he says. In it, he details what may be one of the best parting lines ever uttered by a fired employee. Check that one out below:
