Eddie Murphy Gives Kimmel a Definite Maybe About Returning To Stand Up

It’s not often you see Eddie Murphy on television. Even his appearance at the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special last year was a bigger entertainment story than the special itself. However, next weekend, Eddie Murphy is back on the big screen in his new film, “Mr. Church” and he made time for a TV stop on Jimmy Kimmel Live to talk about it. Eddie definitely downplayed the Oscar buzz he’s experiencing about his dramatic performance. When Kimmel, described “Mr. Church” as a tearjerker, Eddie Murphy said he’s only cried with one of his films. Watch the clips below to see which piece in his filmography brought him to tears.
Along with his return to movies, there’s also talk about his possible return to stand up comedy. And that’s where he left it with Jimmy Kimmel, as a possibility. Claiming he “might” make a stand up comedy comeback, Eddie Murphy said he thinks it would be really interesting to get back up on a comedy stage, simply because he’s not even sure what would happen or what he would say if he returned to stand up. He’s not even sure what he would wear, because he’s out of leather suits.
Eddie Murphy and Jimmy Kimmel covered plenty of topics during their interview including his start in comedy at just 15 years old, his love of the 70s sitcom “Good Times”, his lack of interest in social media and his crazy strong impression of his friend Tracy Morgan.
“Mr. Church” starring Eddie Murphy and Britt Robertson opens nationwide next Friday, September 16th.
