This week, EPIX® released their trailer for Michael Ian Black’s one-hour “Original Comedy Event” titled “Michael Ian Black: Noted Expert.” The prolific author, actor, writer, comedian, podcast host… (we could on) has most recently be seen in his co-starring roles in current television shows “The Gaffigan Show” and “Another Period,” as well as his work on cult classics “Wet Hot American Summer”. But die hard fans will also know him from “Burning Love,” “The State,” “Ed,” and as the co-host of his the podcast “Mike and Tom Eat Snacks” (with former “Ed”star Tom Cavanagh) and host of Black’s latest podcast, “How To Be Amazing.” The comedians first comedy special for EPIX will make its World Television Premiere Friday, May 13, at10pm ET/PT, 9C as part of the EPIX Free Preview Weekend.

Black joked: “I’m thrilled to present my special the way God intended – free of charge during the EPIX Free Preview, and with all the curse words.”

As evidenced by the trailer this comedy event will feature Michael Ian Black’s trademark dapper and deadpan delivery, and tackle everything from the pro-choice debate or the Tilt-A-Whirl. The show was taped at John Jay College in New York City, and the network is encouraging viewers to watch and comment on Twitter with #NotedExpert.

As for how this event came to be, the President & CEO of EPIX, Mark S. Greenberg is a long time fan of Black’s, saying: “I’ve followed Michael’s career for a long time and he is a great comic,” Greenberg continued “His smart, emotional, observational humor appeals to people of all ages and I am excited to bring his comedy to EPIX.”

We’re excited too, Mr.Greenberg!
