Delco Proper returns February 29

All you Delco fans can finally get excited because Philly comedians John McKeever, Tommy Pope and Tim Butterly return on February 29th with new episodes of their web series Delco Proper.

Comedy Central picked up the pilot last summer and ordered three more episodes giving the comedians a chance to dive deeper in the world of Delco. The extension of episodes will also allow for more development of the world the characters live in. While the pilot was very character driven, with limited locations (one of those locations being inside a car) McKeever says the new episodes will focus more on the area as a whole. “A huge part of the show is the area they live in,” he says of the next three episodes. “People thought the show was originally about three buddies, but it’s actually about the fact that John and Tommy work in this lumberyard, which is a family business. This will be more of a world thing.”

The original pilot got great local support and most certainly helped build the momentum that carried the show past the pilot episode. McKeever seems to acknowledge the importance of keeping viewers engaged, without pandering to the shows namesake.

“We’re not going to make references to Delco or use landmarks,” McKeever told philly.com. “Showing an exterior shot to get a local boner is lazy. We want the show to stand on its own. We want Delco to be this place that’s just familiar enough for the regular person to relate to,” he says of the show’s aim. “But we also want to maintain that magical stupidity. You have to go to that world to get that feeling, and that’s what we’re trying to create.”
