Harry Shearer Is OUT! The Voice Of Mr. Burns Is Leaving The Simpsons
Contract negotiations between Harry Shearer and Fox have broken down completely and Harry is now leaving the Simpsons.
Despite recent statements by series creator Matt Groening that everyone was on board, it looks like TMZ sources who said otherwise were on the nose. Simpsons producer James L. Brooks’s attorney broke the news to the world and TMZ confirmed. Harry Shearer addressed it on his twitter, thanking the Simpsons fans:
from James L. Brooks' lawyer: "show will go on, Harry will not be part of it, wish him the best.". (1/2)

This because I wanted what we've always had: the freedom to do other work.
Of course, I wish him the very best. (2/2)— Harry Shearer (@theharryshearer) May 14, 2015
Thanks, Simpsons fans, for your support.

From the sound of it, Harry left because Fox was limiting his options for outside projects. Shearer voiced over 100 characters on the show including Mr. Burns, Smithers, Ned Flanders, and Principal Skinner. Expect them all to die next season, hopefully executed by Hank Scorpio.
