The Emmys Want To Capture Every Single Moment
The nominees and other celebrities attending this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards won’t have a moment to themselves this year thanks to NBC’s major social media campaign for the ceremony. The network plans on working with the Television Academy and other NBCUniversal networks and shows to capture every step a star takes.
Here’s some of what NBC has planned so that it doesn’t miss a thing.
The social media coverage of the 66th Annual Primetime Emmys will be starting days before the event and then during the red carpet, and backstage prior to and during the ceremony. The performers and presenters won’t even be able to prepare for the show while unseen. Emmy host Seth Meyers from NBC’s “Late Night” is providing exclusive footage including rehearsal footage on his @LateNightSeth social media accounts.
There’s also no place safe on the red carpet from prying eyes. “Access Hollywood” will be using a Twitter zip line camera to fly over and cover the red carpet. Think of it as the NFL’s “Flying Fox” except for TV stars instead of football players.
E! will have its Glam Cam ready that fans can access online where hosts ask the stars questions submitted in real time and so that viewers can know where a certain celebrity is at any given moment.
Because the regular cameras don’t provide enough footage, the Today Show will set up a Vine 360 station which will capture exclusive video that viewers can watch on the Today Show social outlets.
And this year, the nominees, presenters and guests will have to do battle with the Emmys’ “Facebook Mentions Box” where celebrities must stop during the pre-show and red carpet walk to shake the Mentions Box and answer a pre-loaded question just for that individual star. Instant backstage moments with the Emmy winners will also be available on NBC’s social media.
The 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards hosted by Seth Meyers are Monday, August 25th on NBC.
