Young Baby with Stage 4 Cancer: Help a Family and Feel Better

Two of my closest friends, Paul and Michele, recently heard the words no parent of a 9 month old should ever hear — “Shane has cancer.” After the whirlwind of unthinkable emotions, and realizing that their happy, ever-smiling, Gerber baby has 42 WEEKS of chemotherapy in front of him, they began the fight. He has already had three weeks of treatment, with a grueling 5 straight days of chemo starting yesterday (4/21).

This family has been crushed by cancer, but they are fighters. You can read their story in their own heartbreaking yet positive words and provide support or donations here. They are providing updates every few days so you can follow along:

They were also featured in an article by philly.com: http://www.philly.com/philly/health/cancer/Shane_Metzgar_Philadelphia_rhabdomyosarcoma.html

Any leftover funds that are not used will go to CHOP’s (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) oncology department and to THON, Penn State University’s childhood cancer fundraiser, as Paul is an alumnus.
