David Wain and Michael Showalter Create Faux Film Trailer

David Wain (Wet Hot American Summer,Role Models), and Michael Showalter (Wet Hot American Summer, My Name Is Doris), and they just created a faux movie trailer called The Second Sound Barrier. Michael Showalter wrote it and David Wain directed it and it’s got among others Juliette Lewis, Ken Marino, and Jeremy Sisto playing lead roles. It’s supposedly the tale of the three fastest drivers in the world and their quest to save Lady Billionaire, (played by Juliette Lewis) who is struck with a mysterious illness, and the only way to save her is to break the “second sound barrier”.

It’s kind of an homage to the fast-car racing films of the 1970’s. The other part of the team are “Catfish” producers Henry Joost and Ariel Shulman, and the original concept was to produce a project to help launch a fragrance line, and this is what Wain/Showalter came up with. It’s a trailer without a movie because as Showalter put it, “Why make a full-length feature film when you can blend and capture the essence of a film in 3 ½ minutes?” You can see it here:
