The screenwriter of 1989’s Batman says that when they were casting the lead role the studio seemed to be so focused on casting Batman they didn’t think about the Bruce Wayne aspect and Steven Segal was floated around before Michael Keaton was even a thought. The Joker would have figured out Batman’s secret identity by his mask’s pony tail hole.
