Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone’s ‘Nobodies’ Picked Up By TV Land

Nobodies Cast TV Land

TV Land’s Keith Cox, Executive Vice President of Development and Original Programming, announced today that the network has granted a 12-episode first season to the new comedy Nobodies. Higher ups at TV Land were impressed with the show’s pilot, which Cox described as being “so honest and bold that it’ll make you laugh and cringe at the same time.” That’s no surprise considering the all-star team behind Nobodies.

MADtv veteran Michael McDonald will be the showrunner and executive producer. Emmy winner and Ghostbusters star Melissa McCarthy and husband/director Ben Falcone will also executive produce, with Falcone also directing and guest-starring in the pilot episode. The show will center around three friends (played by The Groundlings members Hugh Davidson, Rachel Ramras and Larry Dorf) as they attempt to leverage their famous friend to help them get their script picked up and gain fame themselves. The trio will also be executive producing, and will be joined in the pilot by a hilarious cast of guest stars, including SNL alum Maya Rudolph, Arrested Development’s Jason Bateman, Community’s Jim Rash and Married’s Nat Faxon.

McCarthy seems glad to be continuing her tenure on TV, seeing as her previous sitcom, Mike & Molly, was cancelled just a few weeks ago after five seasons. McCarthy and Falcone commented on the series being picked up, saying “Working with our hilarious and talented friends Rachel, Hugh and Larry is a complete joy. Adding a person of Mike’s caliber and a network as supportive as TV Land is truly a dream come true.”

This show has a lot of potential; McDonald is a seasoned director and comedic actor, working on the hit comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine and the upcoming The Good Place. McCarthy and Falcone both have numerous directing, producing and comedy acting credits to their names, and the team of Dorf, Davidson and Ramras have proven their hilarity and talent with their popular Adult Swim show, Mike Tyson Mysteries.

No premiere date has been announced, so we’ll just have to wait and see if this star-studded team has a hit on their hands.
