Thank you so much to everyone who sent in such great quotes. We were overwhelmed with the number of fantastic entries, and also by many of the personal notes sent along with the quotes. Our interviews and guests mean a lot to us and it’s always great to get such strong positive feedback. It was incredibly hard to decide, but here were our top 5 picks:
- “That pilgrimage is an opportunity to unite the will of the spirit to the work of the flesh, and we don’t always know that consciously.” –Martin Sheen sent in by Robert C.
- “What a phenomenal privilege it is that we can open and close a door. We over look it. Seeing an abandoned gas station. Seeing a cow in a field. All of a sudden it’s something magnificent. And we see it daily but we do not recognize it any more, that this is the magnificence of the world out there.” — Warner Herzog sent in by LizSetsFire
- “If you love the artist and the artist has touched you in some way, go on the ride. Go on the big ride with them. Every album can’t be the same. Every movie can’t be the same. But if that person has meant something to you, sign on board for the whole experience and don’t be microscopic about what worked for you and what didn’t work for you.” — Cameron Crowe sent in by Michael N.
- “The idea that you could ever be comfortable with letting go– there’s a lesson there that I’m still trying to learn. Figuring out how to get to a point of grace like that, where you’re able to say, I have lived enough and it’s okay that this is happening. So that kind of shift in perspective is like, well that’s clearly a more important issue to deal with, than, does that guy like me? Do they think I’m dumb or do they think I’m cool. That becomes less important.” — Paul F Tomkins sent in by Matt R.
- “And things are never okay. It does get better I guess, in that you grow to love yourself if you’re lucky. But it doesn’t get better because life is hard, and people aren’t always nice.” — Justin Vivian Bond sent in by Brett H.
