What Did Andy Griffith Do!?
It happens every year, someone gets left out of the Oscar In Memorium. But one surprising omission this year was seemingly beloved actor Andy Griffith. The claim seems to be that he was better know for TV than film (but wasn’t Jack Klugman better know for his TV work too?).
Well, at least the Interrobang included him for A Face in the Crowd on this years “overlooked for Oscars” section.
Ben Gazzara, the actor whose collaborations with John Cassavetes were legendary, starred in TV and theater, but also had memorable performances in Anatomy of a Murder, Voyage of the Damned, Road House, Spanish Prisoner, Happiness, and Dogville (to name a few) should have earned him a mention.
Richard Dawson, Larry Hagman, Gore Vidal and Sylvia Kristel were also noticably absent.
