Watch Jim Gaffigan’s New Special In Theaters in July! See the Trailer Here, Now

Jim Gaffigan is in a ridiculous amount of movies this year- somewhere around a dozen major releases have Jim Gaffigan’s face or voice (usually both) up on the big screen. And now he’s added one more big role to the list of appearances he’s making in movie theaters across the country.  Gaffigan’s brand new stand up special- Noble Ape will be in movie theaters nationwide.

This is Gaffigan’s sixth special, and he already broke convention by choosing to release the hour without a television platform and instead opting to release on most Video On Demand platforms. Today Shorefire media announced that you will also be able to watch with friends and strangers in ten cities including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, Boston, San Francisco and more.

Jim may be helping to pave the way for a new means of distribution, partnering up with the Comedy Dynamics Network.  CDN is offering a means of releasing films, tv shows and comedy specials without having to get the greenlight from platforms like HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central or Netflix, going instead directly to iTunes, Amazon, and other vod providers on a pay to own or watch basis.

“To have Noble Ape screened in theaters is something I never even contemplated.  What an honor.”

Gaffigan is thrilled with the release, calling the theater screening “an honor” and something that he never contemplated.  In his newest hour, Gaffigan talks about learning his wife Jeannie had a massive grapefruit sized brain tumor, and process he and his family went through dealing with hospitals and doctors.  He also shares stories from a medical procedure all his own-  his first colonoscopy, and shares stories from traveling around the world.  Noble Ape was recorded live at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston, MA after a sold out North American Tour of theaters and arenas.

Gaffigan’s previous five hour-long stand up specials include Beyond the Pale – 2006, King Baby – 2009, Mr. Universe – 2012, Obsessed – 2014, and Cinco – 2017, the last three of which were produced by Comedy Dynamics and garnered Grammy nominations for ‘Best Comedy Album’.

Gaffigan is having an impressive 2018- he’s co-starring with Academy Award winners Viola Davis and Allison Janney in Troupe Zero, he plays Paul Markham in the Ted Kennedy biopic Chappaquiddick, he’s lending his voice to play iconic monster hunter Abraham Van Helsing in Hotel Transylvania 3, plus you can see him in Super Troopers 2, fantasy film Shadow Girl starring Megan Fox, and Henchmen with Rosario Dawson, and James Marsden. He will also star in two thrillers– Them That Follow and American Dreamer and the comedy Drunk Parents due out this fall.  Oh yes, and you’ll hear him as the voice of the Goose in Original Force Animation’s Duck Duck Goose. Gaffigan was also the lead in Cold Iron Picture’s comedy, You Can Choose Your Family that premiered at SXSW in March.
