Broadcast TV’s Top New Summer Comedy Cancelled

Despite being hailed as the top rated new summer comedy in a season without a lot of new summer comedy, ABC has decided to give the axe to Uncle Buck. The series, which starred Mike Epps as the titular character, was an adaptation of the John Candy beloved classic comedy movie of the same name.
Costar James Lesure broke the news on Twitter.
Season one, and the run of the series concluded on Tuesday. Although there wasn’t a lot of buzz around the show, Uncle Buck did have a notable premiere, marking high hopes for the Epps led series. According to TV Line, Uncle Buck garnered ABC’s biggest audience in that particular time slot in over 18 months with 5.2 million viewers, and was the best broadcast TV summer comedy launch in years. Unfortunately for the series, ratings dropped by a third going in to week two down to 3.4 million viewers.
