You can’t get it on itunes, amazon instant or netflix so set your DVR, watch it, or do both. The Quiet Man won two Academy Awards, was nominated for seven, and yet, it’s still a movie that has been surprisingly under-seen. If you don’t already have a visit to the Irish countryside on your bucket list, you will after watching this beautiful movie set in the Irish village of Inisfree, and filmed in the village of Cong. The Quiet Man stars John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara, and was directed by John Ford. Despite tremendous performances by both, the movie is completely stolen by Barry Fitzgerald, as the unforgettable Michaleen Flynn. The score is majestic, the dialogue is endlessly quoteable, Add it to your queue now and it will become your St Patrick’s day tradition In fact, just buy it. You’ll want to watch this one over and over again.
