Tracy Morgan is in negotiations to join an already impressive cast in the Lee Daniels Richard Pryor biopic that is in the works. Morgan will reportedly play comedy icon Redd Foxx in the film if talks pan out. Before starring in the hit sitcom Sanford and Son, Foxx owned the local comedy club that gave Pryor his first stage time.

“Mr. Foxx, I hope I do you justice! It will be an honor to portray an icon,” Morgan said in a statement.

Oprah Winfrey, Mike Epps, Kate Hudson, Taraji P. Henson, and Eddie Murphy are already on board the project, with Epps in the lead role, Hudson as Pryor’s wife, and Henson and Murphy playing Pryor’s parents.

Since returning to work just a few months ago after being severely injured in a car crash, Morgan has been busy. He’ll be featured in the comedy film Fist Fight, he’s hosted Saturday Night Live, returned to performing stand up and announced a giant tour.
