Tommy Chong Leads 44th Annual Hash Bash

Tommy Chong was the star attraction at Michigan’s 44th annual Hash Bash. The event drew thousands to the University of Michigan’s Diag in Ann Arbor. The Hash Bash was not only a cannabis celebration, but also a call to decriminalize pot across the country. Joining Tommy Chong were Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and State Representative Jeff Irwin.
According to MLive, several speakers at Hash Bash talked about how marijuana had helped them through medical problems and other conditions. Rep. Irwin announced he was drafting a bill to legalize pot in Michigan. While Tommy Chong told the crowd, it’s time for the whole country to get on board. He said, “I really have one message for the government of the United States: decriminalize it. Today is a celebration of the greatest plant known to me. I’m going to smoke one right now.”
He added that pot smokers are on the verge of victory in America. Tommy said, “(This) is a protest, but it’s turning into a celebration because we are winning. We are winning the war on drugs.” Tommy Chong talked about an upcoming causality in the war on drugs. “The DEA is about to be eliminated,” he said. “The way that they’re going to be eliminated is that they won’t need the budget because there will be no more war on drugs.”
Tommy jokingly admitted to the crowd that was thrilled to see him that he had been to hash bashes before across the country, but just couldn’t remember all of them.
