Tim Minchin Plays a Young Donald Trump on Late Late Show

The Late Late Show has a penchant for getting a bit weird, and Monday night was no exception. With comedian and composer Tim Minchin in the house, host James Corden took advantage of the Aussie’s skills to put on a production of Donald, The Musical. The musical production of “When I Grow Up” is a play on Minchin’s music composition for the hit kids show Matilda: The Musical, but this rendition which focused on a young Donald Trump and his friends Steve Bannon, Sean Spicer and Kellyanne Conway is not for kids.

Minchin plays the Donald in short pants, Corden sits in as a young Steve Bannon, with Corden’s other guests Ben Platt and Abigail Spencer rounding out the “cast” as kid versions of Kellyanne and Sean.

“When I grow up, I will be President and build big walls, ban Muslims, play with Putin’s balls, grab pussies of a lady grown up,” the song starts, espousing young Donald’s big dreams. Kiddy Spicer dreams about lying about sizes of crowds and hands, and ignoring climate change. Little Stevie Bannon looks forward to taking away paid maternity leave and letting damaged people buy more guns, and Kellyanne is planning ahead to believe alternative facts when the regular ones don’t fit her narrative.

“My supporters will support me cause I’m not a chick even if my policies are psychopathic, they’re gonna be huge!”
