Tigers’ Rick Porcello Suspended For 6 Games
Tigers right-hander Rick Porcello has been suspended six games and fined an undisclosed amount for intentionally throwing at Tampa Bay’s Ben Zobrist on Sunday. Rays manager Joe Maddon felt Porcello intentionally threw at Zobrist as retaliation for an inside pitch on Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera on Saturday. Tigers skipper Jim Leyland said “Why is everybody making a big deal out of that? It’s part of baseball. Guys get hit in baseball games. Big deal. It’s nothing new. … Nobody’s trying to hit anybody.” Good thing Porcello wasn’t trying. Someone could have been hurt.
