Tig Notaro Starring In Her First HBO Comedy Special
Add Tig Notaro’s name to the list of comedians who have been featured in an HBO comedy special. Home Box Office announced that Tig will get her first special on the network that will be taped later this year. She will be doing all new stand up in front of a live crowd.
President of Programming Michael Lombardo talked about landing Tig on HBO. He said, “Tig Notaro is a ‘comedian’s comedian,’ whose uniquely fearless and always funny voice has won acclaim from critics and fans alike. I’m so happy that we will be able to introduce this remarkable performer to a larger audience.”
Tig Notaro, who talks about being a breast cancer survivor who underwent a double mastectomy and chose not to have reconstructive surgery, in her act, made headlines at last year’s New York Comedy Festival when she fearlessly performed topless while headlining at Town Hall.
As well as her national “Boyish Girl Interrupted” stand up tour, Tig Notaro has been seen on “Transparent”, “The Office” and “The Sarah Silverman Program”. She’s also the subject of a new documentary, “Tig” directed by Kristina Goolsby and Ashley York which will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival later this month.
