“One Mississippi,” a dramatic comedy or comedic drama that was semi-autobiographical about the period of Tig’s life when her mother passed away was canceled after two seasons on Amazon Prime. But that’s all old news, Notaro is working on an hour series for a major network.
ABC has given Tig a pilot production commitment for “Thicker Than Water” a genre-defying comedic drama that covers some familiar territory but with a different focus. In this new series, written by Tig along with “One-Mississippi” cowriter Cara DiPaolo, the drama follows a single mom who heads to her smaller town, middle of the country hometown to attend her estranged father’s funeral. What she discovers is a bunch of half-siblings she never met. It’s not about Tig but is expected to center on some elements of her own experiences. Notaro is not expected to star in the series.
The series is said to focus on the American experience.
