For the past five years, Comedy Central has showcased their picks for the comics to watch at the New York Comedy Festival and it’s one of the events you don’t want to miss. This year Comedy Central has more comics to watch. Two nights, two formats, two venues- one for stand up and one for sketch.
The stand up arm of the showcase takes place at Carolines on Broadway on Tuesday with host Ricky Velez intro’ing 12 great up and coming comedians from around the country. Kenny DeForest, Jo Firestone, David Gborie, Charles Gould, Sam Jay, Josh Johnson, Adam Lustick, Jacqueline Novak, Billy Prinsell, Ramon Rivas II, Randy Syphax and Jacob Williams will all perform.
Then Wednesday night head on down to UCB Chelsea where Conner O’Malley will featue sketch groups BOAT and Pop Roulette, along with performances by Joanna Bradley, David Brown, Christine Bullen, Brett Davis, Carl Foreman Jr., Frank Garcia-Hejl, Brandon Scott Jones and Gary Richardson.
The Sixth Annual Comics to Watch stand-up showcase will take place on Tuesday, November 10 at 8:00 p.m. at Carolines on Broadway with the Comics to Watch sketch showcase taking place at UCB Chelsea, the foremost destination for sketch comedy, on Wednesday, November 11 at 7:30 p.m. Both “Comics to Watch” showcases are part of the 2015 New York Comedy Festival.
This year, all of the new sketch performers will receive a development deal from Comedy Central to submit a one off sketch script for consideration, and content from the showcases will be made available via Spotify and Snapchat in addition to ccstandup.com.
