The Weekender: World’s Greatest Current Athlete

Last summer Usain Bolt declared himself the greatest living athlete.  There’s no question he’s in any top ten list, but is he number one?  Who is the greatest living athlete, still playing/performing his or her sport today?  Use any sport you want, and any criteria you want to decide-raw talent, discipline, stamina, statistics, games won, versatility, medals won– whatever you think defines the term ‘Greatest Current Athlete.’   Right now there are a lot of athletes at the top of their own game, but who is the world’s greatest living and performing athlete?  Convince us why your answer is right and you can win.  The athletes in the photos below are not our picks, and they’re not a list.  You get to come up with the answers here, not us.  These are just examples of some athletes that have been called the greatest in the world by others.  Pick any athlete you want– known or unknown– and convince us you’re right.  You could win a copy of The Natural signed by Barry Levinson!!
