Fans have spotted the satirical news host’s cameo in a scene that’s supposedly called “Lake Town.” Hardcore LOTR-fan Colbert, his two sons, and his wife flew to New Zealand to be placed in the film by Peter Jackson. Which either came from his respect for Colbert’s fandom, or the fact that it’s hard for Jackson to turn down a fanboy request considering he’s bugging the BBC to direct a Doctor Who episode.
