The Secret Behind The Theme To Seinfeld

Jonathan Wolff is the musical genius behind the Seinfeld theme. He talked to Vice about his sitcom theme song writing career. He also developed themes for shows like “Will & Grace”, “Married… With Children, and “Who’s The Boss?”

A lot of the Seinfeld theme was made using noises that Wolff made with his own mouth. The sounds would be recorded and then sampled along with the now famous bass line. Wolff would then play the theme on a synth. Here’s the part you might not have noticed. The theme was varied slightly episode to episode, so it was never the same theme twice. And that’s over the course of 180 episodes of Seinfeld.
