The Olympics Are One Week From Today, And Sochi Looks Like Shit

Blogger Alexander Valov took pictures of Sochi’s Olympic village last week, and the term “clusterfuck” seems like a compliment. The housing for volunteers is unfinished, trash dumps are everywhere with no sign of cleanup, unfinished hotels are hidden behind walls, dirt has been painted grass green (and rain has turned that to mud), and sidewalks poured directly on the ground are crumbling by the main highway. The fact that these projects are unfinished is almost as bad as the fact they’re $39B over budget.
