The Chris Gethard Show has long had a strong cult following as one of the most popular public access shows. Now, Chris Gethard and the gang move to cable television, premiering on Fusion tonight, and airing every Thursday, at 10pm.

The show, produced by Funny or Die, is set to have a strong premiere episode. The first Fusion show will include an appearance from Broad City stars Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer, who will Skype with fans, displaying the weirdest parts of their bodies.

Just two weeks ago, Gethard’s fans carried him to work for his first day of work, so longtime fans needn’t worry about whether the show will stay weird. We talked with Gethard back in February about his goals for the Fusion version of the show.  The first goal is to do make sure they do the show they want to do, and with full cooperation from the network at least so far, they should be able to do that.  He added,

“There are also some secondary goals that …relate to doing things correctly, that in public access we didn’t have the budget or the time to do. For me, my great white whale of the show is I’ve always had this idea of the human crane where i would be hung upside down by my feet and then people could call in and use the show like an arcade claw game where i would be lowered down at their whim, you know, like winning prizes if I pick them up with my mouth. We tried that twice on public access and both times I was almost seriously injured because of how shoddy and thrown together it was. So now that we have a budget I’d really like to see if we can’t build an actual human crane and conquer that one. It’s a real thorn in my side- a real unaccomplished mission and it doesn’t sit well with me.”

For five years, Gethard self-financed the beloved TCGS. Now, the show has a budget, along with its built-in fan base. Watch the premiere tonight at 10pm on Fusion.
