Amazon Studios is greenlighting a season of the new dark comedy “Mad Dogs”. If you ever had a reunion with some old friends you hadn’t seen in awhile and the get-together results in murder, you can identify with “Mad Dogs”.

It’s absolute madness and if you watched the pilot you can see why viewers voted this one to series– you just have to find out what the f-ck is going on here.  When Amazon called this a dark comedy, they weren’t kidding about the dark part.  The pilot episode follows a group of friends who are invited by their buddy to come check out his place in Belize has he announces his retirement.  We don’t want to give anything away, but suffice it to say that everythings about to go to shit.

The series was given the go-ahead by Amazon Studios after the company’s customers had spoken. “Mad Dogs” was part of Amazon’s first pilot season of 2015 and it was voted to series by people going to Amazon.com, watching the pilot and leaving their feedback on whether the show should get a full season or not. Steve Zahn, Billy Zane, Romany Malco, Michael Imperioli and Ben Chaplin star, and we’re ready to binge watch the entire season as soon as it becomes available later this year. Whacked out plot twists should be a comfort zone for Michael Imperioli after “The Sopranos” and Steve Zahn channels shades of 2009’s “A Perfect Getaway.”

This is how the Golden Globe winner for Best TV Comedy became a series. Amazon customers voted to give the green light to “Transparent” starring Jeffrey Tambor and it went on to become an award winning series.

Don’t know if “Mad Dogs” will follow suit but its definitely compelling.  If you haven’t seen the pilot yet, its available on Amazon.com.
