Tax Evaders – The Video Game!

Screen Shot 2013-04-12 at 4.18.31 PMAs people scramble to file their income taxes, a new game is out to remind everyone just how much corporations don’t pony up to Uncle Sam. This past Wednesday, The new online game ‘Tax Evaders’ was projected in front of the wall of a CitiBank branch in New York’s Union Square. It’s a variation on the classic video game, ‘Space Invaders’, but instead of protecting Earth from evil aliens, you’re protecting citizens and vital social services from corporations and the government. Sponsored by Citizens Engagement Lab, The Other 98%, and US Uncut, the game was designed to shed awareness to how major corporations, through tax breaks, loopholes and government subsidies, cost the U.S. up to $150 billion dollars a year in unpaid taxes.
