Student Loan Interest Rates Doubled On Monday

Congress couldn’t reach a deal on interest rates on federally subsidized Stafford student loans by the Monday deadline. That means that for now, interest rates have doubled to 6.8%. Unless Congress can still come up with a deal, this will cost the average college student an additional $2,600. Graduates should just plan on dodging a lot more phone calls this Summer.
