Steve Coogan Will Star in Showtime’s Happyish
One of the projects left in limbo after Philip Seymour Hoffman’s all too soon death earlier this year was a series he had helped developed for Showtime, Happyish. Today there was a surprise announcement that Oscar nominee funnyman Steve Coogan will take on the lead role and begin filming in New York in December.
Deadline describes “Happyish” as a dark comedy about the search of happiness that everyone goes through. Coogan will play a 44 year old man caught up in drudgery of his job which become all too apparent when his new 25 year old boss shows up, throwing around social media buzzwords. Coogan’s character finds that if he can’t be happy, maybe he can be happyish.
Steve Coogan was nominated for two Academy Awards last year for his film, “Philomena”.
