Stephen Fry’s 15 Year Coke Binge Left No ‘Physical Harm’

Stephen Fry is one of the funniest people and an excellent public speaker but it doesn’t keep him from being controversial.

Fry was at the Hay Festival in Wales when he admitted his addiction reached its peak in the 1980s. And while he said the habit was expensive and “monumentally stupid” — he said he didn’t think consuming large amounts of the drug for a long period of time caused any damage, news.com is reporting.

Obviously this is not the bottoming out and slow climb back to recovering story that a good addict is supposed to portray.

“Sometimes the truth is annoying to people,” Fry added “It did me harm in that I could have done twice as much work. I would have got up earlier. I would have gone for walks. I would have drunk less alcohol.”

So sure, Stephen you would have got up earlier and walked more but just think of all the teeth grinding and rambling conversations you would have missed out on.

Fry was at the festival to read from his third autobiography, More Fool Me.
