So How is Danica Patrick Doing?

Danica PatrickWe all remember Danica-mania back at Daytona. Starting on the pole, she managed to keep up front all day, the ratings skyrocketed, and many saw Danica’s Top 10 as a signal of future success. However, coming off NASCAR’s second major, the Southern 500, Danica-mania isn’t quite as strong as we thought it would be. This is where she stands going into the All-Star break:

1. Daytona 500: Started 1st, Finished 8th
2. Phoenix International Raceway: Started 40th, Finished 39th (Crash on lap 185)
3. Las Vegas Motor Speedway: Started 37th, Finished 33rd (6 laps down)
4. Bristol Motor Speedway: Started 41st, Finished 28th (5 laps down)
5. Auto Club (California) Speedway: Started 40th, Finished 26th (1 lap down)
6. Martinsville Speedway: Started 32nd, Finished 12th
7. Texas Motor Speedway: Started 42nd, Finished 28th (3 laps down)
8. Kansas Speedway: Started 25th, Finished 25th (2 laps down)
9. Richmond International Raceway: Started 30th, Finished 29th (4 laps down)
10. Talladega Superspeedway: Started 23rd, Finished 33rd (Crash, 10 laps down)
11. Southern 500: Started 40th, Finished 28th (5 laps down, crashed in practice)

The five laps she led at Daytona are the only ones she’s led this season, and her average finish is 26th. Her boyfriend and fellow Rookie of the Year competitor Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., has an average finish of 18th and has led 29 laps. Her car owner, former IndyCar champ and three-time Cup champion Tony Stewart, had an average finish of 14th in the first 11 races of his first Cup season, and managed to lead 79 laps.
