The Comeback Episode 2: The Return of Jane

Are you watching Lisa Kudrow’s HBO series, “The Comeback” ?  If you’re not, you need to get on it immediately.  This is one of the best comedies on television and tonight, the talented and understated (and underrated) Laura Silverman makes her return.

Lisa Kudrow IS Valerie Cherish who is so uncomfortably real, that its hard to watch, and yet, you can’t turn away.  You love to hate her character’s choices more than ever in this season’s Comeback comeback.  Paulie G, played by Lance Barber is brilliant again in the new season.   Poor choices are everywhere and this season there are some new characters making things interesting.

This week, Valerie tracks down Jane, the quiet but brutally relentless producer of the reality show within the show.  In the original series, Jane headed the film crew that followed Valerie around on and off set.  In series two, it looks like Valerie will have to convince Jane to get involved with Simply Red.

In the episode 2 preview, Valerie needs a union crew to follow her around, and reunites with Jane, and Jane’s Oscar.  It’s been a long time since series one.  Also in Sunday’s episode, Valerie’s publicist Billy, played by Dan Bucatinsky, gets her set up with an appointment with stylist to the stars, Brad Goreski who needs to get Valerie Cherish ready for the Golden Globes. Goreski appears as himself in the episode.
